FALLING MASH

I did a mini mash with the Sorghum Malt using a Falling step mash schedule with Teramyl Ondea and Ceremix.

1lb grain to 1/2 gallon water.

Mash in at 200°f add Teramyl at 185° rest for 45 min at 180°-190° then flame out.

Allow to drift to 150°f

Add Ceremix and Ondea.

Rest for 90 minutes holding 150°-160°.

Sparge to 1/2 gallon pre boil volume.

RESULT

Grain Bill 1 lb Sorghum malt

Pre boil volume 1/2 gal

OG 1.063

Estimated EFFICIENCY 95%

Reported 33PPG

Observed 31.5PPG

CONCLUSIONS

Scaled up this is 10lbs grain for 5 gal wort at 1.063.

On my anvil 10.5 I would sparge another 1/2 gal and boil that off over a 60 minute boil. Yielding me 5 gal of 1.063 wort.

Considering I achieved 63% efficiency the other day this is a massive improvement.

Cheers!
